About Us Cedar Tree Montessori Preschool, serving ages 3-5, is a family-owned business; the McMillan family has been in Prescott since 1982. Our daughter Aly has lived on the east and west coasts, northern Arizona, and Phoenix, but she has always wanted to come back to Prescott to open her own preschool. With her wonderful creativity and teaching experience at other Montessori schools, we were pleased and excited to bring this method to Prescott. This has been a wonderful journey for us; I'm sure our enthusiasm shows when you visit our campus ...and just when we thought our journey was nearly complete, we find that we have outgrown our Penn Avenue campus!! So we purchased a large Victorian home on North Pleasant Street - we will move our preschool to that location and add a kindergarten which has been requested by our preschool parents since we opened in 2007. Our Penn location will be transformed into an infant and toddler center serving ages 3 months to 3 years.
Aly McMillan, Director and Lead Teacher I graduated from PHS in 1993. Montessori Training was completed in Phoenix at Villa Montessori where I began working in the outdoor environment. I did my internship there and taught in the classroom for two years. AMS certification was completed in April 2005. I was a lead teacher for two years at AZ Montessori Charter School in Prescott Valley, assistant teacher for one year at Flagstaff Montessori and continued on there as a lead teacher for three years. A wonderful opportunity opened in Prescott where we purchased an old daycare center, closed it and remodeled every inch, and reopened as Cedar Tree Montessori Preschool. This has been a dream come true for me and a privilege to serve our Prescott families. - Ms. Aly |
